Malthouse Operator

The Malthouse Operator, under the direction of the Process Manager, controls the malting process according to standard process requirements and best operating practices.  and safe work procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Dump kilns, clean kiln aisles, start kiln loading panel.
  2. Prepare boxes for unloading.
  3. Transfer boxes to kilns.
  4. In coordination with Shift Maltster, run kiln machines, adjust levelers, start kiln fans and light kiln fires and sulfur.
  5. Wash compartments after pulling tray tops, conveyors, flip-flops, gates, aisles sub compartment walls, floors, tray bottoms and damper.
  6. Chlorinate house, boxes and sub compartments as required.
  7. Steep out boxes as required.
  8. In coordination with Shift Maltster monitor sewer vault.
  9. Take moisture samples as required.
  10. Sanitation items assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/Relevant secondary education
  • 2+ years of experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; food production industry a plus
  • Experience with running equipment, with the ability to perform basic preventative maintenance
  • Excellent Mechanical Aptitude
  • Must be able to work rotating shift and weekends (5 days per week – 8 hours per day)

Protective Clothing Required:

The employee must wear safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat and a full face respirator when working in manufacturing areas.
